Phil Castang has over 30 years of experience in creating and leading highly successful music, arts and education projects. Originally training as a sound engineer at Dave Ward’s Gateway School of Recoding, Phil spent much of the late 80s behind a mixing desk. He went on to produce numerous albums, including the album Utopia on Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records. Phil has previously worked as CEO of Newham Music Trust and until recently was Director of Creative Learning and Engagement at Bristol Beacon. Phil is currently CEO of Music for Youth and chair of the Music Education Council. Phil is a champion of inclusion and has been on the Department for Education advisory panel helping to write a revised National Plan for Music Education.
