A warm welcome to our Corporate Partners, Open Up Music

We are delighted that Open Up Music has joined TiME as a Corporate Member. 

Open Up Music is a registered charity that been delivering award-winning programmes since 2007. Their work creates new opportunities for young disabled people to develop their musical skills, become musicians and make their own music.

Alongside their work with special schools and the National Open Youth Orchestra (NOYO) they have developed the Clarion. Available on iPad and PC, the Clarion is an innovative accessible instrument that can be played expressively with any part of the body, including eye movement.

The Clarion is currently offered through Open Up Music programmes, and is already played by hundreds of young disabled musicians in the National Open Youth Orchestra and Open Orchestras. It is currently being developed for wider release in 2024, so it can be used in more special and mainstream schools, and by musicians of all ages. It will first be available to arts and education organisations for volume purchasing. ABRSM is also working on making the Clarion the first ever electronic instrument to be assessed through its Open Music Assessment.

Open Orchestras helps special schools set up accessible orchestras, so that hundreds of young disabled people get first access to music education every year. The National Open Youth Orchestra (NOYO) is the world’s first disabled-led national youth orchestra. It pioneers an inclusive orchestra model where talented 11-25 year-old disabled and non-disabled musicians rehearse and perform together.
