Demystifying VR and AR (Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality)
David Ward, Managing Director of TiME, introduces Tom Garner (Senior Lecturer) from the School of Creative Technologies at Portsmouth University. Tom explains the principles of VR and AR with examples of their great potential and application in the world of music. He will then focus on the importance of sound in virtual reality, bio-sensing and wearable technologies and how a VR application is structured. Tom demonstrates how biofeedback-based sound designs and musical compositions for VR experiences are created, using a recent project example that utilised emotion-sensing and evocative sound design techniques.
